Atlantic France
North Biscay to the Spanish border
By: RCC Pilotage Foundation
North Africa Pilot Guide

'North Biscay' has been renamed Atlantic France to reflect the extended coverage to the Spanish border.

Jeremy Parkinson has revisited the West coast of France and, from his research over the past two years has produced this new renamed edition. Throughout, the harbour plans have been revised and in many case improved. In particular, the coverage of Brest now includes the new Marina du Chateau, large scale plans of the marinas at Lorient have been added and plans are provided of the small harbours in the Gironde.

At the north end the Brittany harbour of L'Aberwrac'h, the key to entering the Chenal du Four, is now included and in the south  Arcachon, Capbreton, Bayonne, St Jean de Luz and the Rada de Higuer up to the Spanish border are included.

Many of the photographs are new and at the end of 2009 Patrick Roach was commissioned to produce a new set of aerial photos and amongst these is unique coverage of Brest.

Atlantic France is the authoratitive cruising companion for this long and varied coastline and its publication will be welcomed by both first time visitors and old West coast of France hands.

Shell Channel Pilot by Tom Cunliffe (6th Edition)

The Shell Channel Pilot

By: Tom Cunliffe
South coast of England, the North coast of France and the Channel Islands

shell channel pilot

The Shell Channel Pilot stands alone as the ultimate authority on cruising both sides of the English Channel. Ever since the 1930s, when Adlard Coles published the original version, it has been steadily upgraded and updated. The work never ceases. Under the Imray / Cunliffe house flag since 1992, it represents more than eighty years of effort.

This is the sixth Imray edition, indicating that the book is re-issued every three years in the untiring endeavour to keep it up to date. This time, the text has been organised into defined sections. Each is prefaced by passage notes which are more comprehensive than previously, lifting the work far above any simple harbour guide. Also included is advice about Channel-crossing navigation, regulations, health and paperwork on both sides of the water. Best of all remain the pilotage notes, the plans, the aerial and approach shots for harbours great and obscure, plus the author's frank remarks about shoreside facilities. The net result is unique - rigorous navigation advice to pilot you safely through the rocks, spiced with a light touch guaranteed to raise a salty chuckle on winter evenings while you plan next summer's voyaging.

As a guide and a shipmate, there is nothing like it.

A4. Hardback, full colour plans & photographs throughout.

New editions of the award-winning Imray digital charts ID10, ID20, ID30 and ID40 are now available. A new folio has also been added to the series - ID100 Eastern Caribbean.

For 2010 the presentation and registration procedure has been changed.

The digital chart folios are now supplied on USB sticks and instead of purchasing a folio for a calendar year which had disadvantages for those buying the CD late in the season, the registration code provides access to quarterly updates which include any new editions and improvements as well as corrections for a year from the date of registration. In subsequent years existing users will be able to purchase new registration codes at a discount.

Imray Digital Charts are also interfaced with Meridian's Tidal Prediction software which is also now published on USB memory sticks.
